Details with stories to tell
Flade church holds a number of fine details that make the visit particularly rewarding. In the south wall you'll find an old sundial with quarter-day divisions, and beneath the south-facing chancel window a commemorative inscription can be seen.
On a stone in the east wall, a symbolic depiction of the hand of God blessing the circle of the earth has been carved – a small but powerful testament to the significance of faith through the ages.
Art and furnishings
Inside the church you are met by beautiful craftsmanship from several periods.
The pulpit is a fine Renaissance work from around 1625, and the altarpiece, also in the Renaissance style with baroque carvings, was added in 1702. The church bell was cast in 1486 and still carries history forward with its sound.
