Jenlefesten – a Danish folk festival of culture, debate, and community

Jenlefesten is a cherished annual event held at the historic home of Jeppe and Nanna Aakjær, Jenle. Since the first gathering in 1910, the Aakjær Society has remained true to the tradition of bringing people together for conversation, music, and reflection on social progress. The festival features two keynote speakers – one political and one cultural – along with live music, communal singing, stalls, and the presentation of the Aakjær Prize. Visitors can also walk the poet’s trail and tour the newly restored writer’s residence.

Each year, two well-known speakers reflect on the relevance of Jeppe Aakjær in today's world. Music is provided by local talents, and the Aakjær Prize is awarded annually to individuals for their contributions to nature, culture, and regional identity.

Jenlefesten takes place every August from 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Tickets and meals can be booked at . Guests are encouraged to bring their own chair – and picnic basket if desired. Free rain ponchos will be provided in case of rain.
