Lødderup Kirke – a Romanesque village church on Mors with history in granite and monk bricks

In the open landscape of Mors, Lødderup Kirke stands as one of the island's most prominent village churches.

Here you'll encounter a Romanesque church by the Limfjord where granite, monk bricks and small stories bind past and present together.

One of Mors' largest village churches with deep roots

Lødderup Kirke was originally the largest village church on Mors.

It consists of a chancel and nave in the Romanesque style, built from solid granite ashlar blocks, while the late Gothic tower is constructed of monk bricks – a beautiful contrast in materials and expression.

Discover the layers of history – from the travellers' stable to the church ship

Even at the entrance to the churchyard you are met by an old thatched travellers' stable, bearing witness to a time when travellers and churchgoers came from afar.

To the north of the church you'll find the urn graves, where a sculpture by Steen Jensen from Nykøbing adds a contemporary artistic expression to the area.

Inside, the stories continue: the altarpiece by Troels Trier from 1947 brings colour and life to the space, while the church ship from 1995 – a model of the ketch 'Frem' from Nykøbing (1939) – connects the church to the maritime history of the area.

Why you should experience Lødderup Kirke

Lødderup Kirke is ideal for those seeking historical experiences by the Limfjord and wishing to visit one of Mors' largest village churches.

Here you'll find a distinctive combination of architecture, art and local stories.

A visit pairs well with other experiences on Mors, where nature, fjord and culture go hand in hand.
