Redsted Kirke – a Romanesque church with Gothic features and historic furnishings on Mors

In the heart of Redsted stands Redsted Kirke with its Romanesque roots and later additions.

Here the medieval architectural style meets furnishings from the 17th century and a tower from the 20th century.

A centrally located church with roots in the Middle Ages

Redsted Kirke is situated centrally in the town of Redsted on Mors. The nave and chancel are built in the Romanesque style, while the porch is Gothic.

The church tower was built in 1936, and the tower clock was installed in 1955.

A church bell with royal motifs

The church bell dates from 1786 and was cast in Randers. It is decorated with images of the 11 Oldenburg kings along with their initials.

Furnishings from around 1600

Both the altarpiece and the pulpit date from around the year 1600 and are executed in the so-called Næssund type.

The central panel of the altarpiece contains a painting signed by E. Jurs from 1925, depicting Christ and the little children.

The four panels of the pulpit show the evangelists, and the sounding board above the pulpit dates from 1669.

Preserved details in the church interior

In the south-west corner of the chancel stands a clerk's chair from around 1600. T

he pews date from approximately 1650 and have painted text.
